Clinton City Service Projects List
The following is a list of service projects that may be available for groups or individuals.
Responsibilities
City personnel will be able to assist you with information about the particular project that you have selected from the list below or for 1 that you have thought of yourself. In some instances when funding is available the City will provide you with materials such as paint or litter bags etc.
Organization of the project (planning and preparation, man power and equipment), will depend on you and your group leaders. City personnel will not be present to work on the project with you. Please keep in mind that projects need to be completed fully not leaving “loose ends” for others to finish.
To begin your project: Schedule a meeting with Mike at the Public Works Office at 801-614-0870.
Paint Fire Hydrants
After a few years the paint on Fire Hydrants begins to wear thin and rust begins to cover the surface. A fresh coat of paint protects the hydrants and makes the neighborhood look a little better. This project can be done any time the temperature is warm enough, (60 degrees and rising).
Place markers over Storm Drain Catch Basins
Catch Basins are inlet boxes on the Storm Drain System that collect the water that runs off the street or yards during a storm. This water goes downstream to Howard Slough and eventually to the Great Salt Lake where many different types of Birds and other wildlife live. The markers are placed over the Catch Basins as a reminder to everyone to be careful and not pollute the Storm Drain Waters.
Landscape work in Parks and Trails
Each year new trees are planted in the City Parks. To protect the trees from damage by lawn mowers, mulch is placed around the base of the trees. This project consists of removing a ring of sod from around the trees and replacing it with mulch. This is a project that must be done when the weather is warm enough.
Organize a Litter Pickup
Help us keep the City Beautiful by cleaning litter from City Parks or one of the Trails or City Streets. The Public Works Department will furnish the bags and the safety equipment and you furnish the manpower.
Painting Curbs Red in Front of Fire Hydrants
The Public Works Department will furnish the paint and other necessary supplies for your group to paint a 30’ section of the curb red for no parking in front of Fire Hydrants. This project can be done any time the temperature is at least 60 degrees and rising.
